Sculpture 3D test print and original.Ah, the wonders of modern technology!  In this picture, the original sculpture is on the left (yes, that little guy!), while a proof of concept 3D print is on the right.  I had been told it would be impossible to enlarge a sculpture of that size (it’s just under 3 inches tall and was enlarged just over 300%) and retain any detail of significance, and that the enlargement would basically be a formless blob.  As you can see, that is not the case.  The original was scanned using an industrial grade scanner at the highest resolution possible to retain as much information as possible when enlarged.  Granted, the detail is not nearly as sharp as the original, which I had no expectations of anyway, but once printed on a high quality 3D machine, the details can be added back into the piece and be as crisp as the original.  I asked the print be reversed from the original to keep the original unique, but who knows, I may change my mind… or have it both ways!!  The enlarged piece will be available as resin castings in 1/9 scale in the near future, with various other sizes to follow.
