Continuing the story, traps were borrowed and Mama and the kittens were familiarized with being around and in the traps by feeding them at the trap area. That worked for about a week to 10 days, when Mama then decided to move the kittens to the front neighbor’s yard. Mama was very comfortable there, having been fed there over the past year. That neighbor’s yard is also much safer due to there being no dogs. Mama would also come over here to be fed, too, as I had set up a borrowed trap and conditioned her to going in and eating. At first she was wary, but that soon wore off. This status quo went on for a month and a half or so as the kittens grew. After a while they would sit up on the fence between here and next door, which is what you see in this image. Then one day, Mama decided to move the kittens yet again! This time to the back neighbor’s yard in the barn area, which is a separate fenced area. Dunno how she got them there and made it past the dogs. She moved two, then two more, over the course of a few days leaving one still left in the front neighbor’s yard. That’s when things went into action to trap them all before they disappeared for good.
